The company says it will eventually have four production lines in the 4,600-square-metre building and employ 150 people. Production capacity is expected to be 50MW by the end of the year. Siliken’s global module capacity will increase to 325MW.

Siliken is targeting the hot Ontario solar market, which has been fuelled by a feed-in tariff with a significant local-content requirement. Participating projects must source at least 60% of their content, including equipment and labour, from within the Canadian province.
