The expansion, called Mesquite Solar 2, will produce enough power for 45,000 homes.
Southern California Edison will buy the entire output of Mesquite Solar 2 under a 20-year agreement. The contract is subject to approval by the California Public Utilities Commission.
Sempra expects to begin construction on Mesquite Solar 2 this fall. The project will create hundreds of construction jobs, part of a multi-phase expansion that will employ about 600 workers at peak.
