The wafer agreement, signed in late 2007, would have seen LDK deliver wafers totalling 43,000 metric tonnes – or the equivalent of 6 gigawatts (GW) – to Q-Cells between 2009 and 2018.
Q-Cells ponied up $244.5m towards the deal in early 2008, though the money was secured by a bank guarantee, meaning that it can be reclaimed in the event of the agreement being terminated.
