The “disaster of biblical proportions” in Fukushima demonstrates once and for all that “cheap, clean and safe nuclear power is an illusion”, he argues.
“The damage to humanity is immeasurable, while the ultimate financial cost will be considerably higher than any investment required for a conversion to renewable energies,” says Asbeck, who founded Bonn-based SolarWorld in 1998 and took it public in 2003.
