The 11.5MW project at the premises of the Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB) movement was built by Tata Solar Power across eight sheltered structures under the Punjab government’s grid-connected rooftop solar projects scheme.
The array covers about 17 hectares and was built at a cost of 1.4bn rupees ($20m), said the state government.
Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal inaugurated the plant, which is sited near Amritsar and has a 25-year supply deal with the state’s power utility.
