Construction work has been completed at the 1.1MW free-field array in Kolindros, in the region of Central Macedonia, with commissioning slated for the end of the month.

Phoenix, which has previously built several multi-megawatt arrays in Greece, was hired as engineering, procurement and construction contractor by a group of Cypriot investors calling themselves Sol Power.

Despite Greece’s dire economic situation, it is increasingly viewed as a growth engine for the European PV sector – a shift driven in part by Athens' determination to create solar-related jobs, and in part by the growing chorus of voices across cash-strapped Europe who argue that PV arrays should be built in sunnier countries.
