The investor-owned utility needs approval from the Nevada Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for contracts for energy from PV projects of 30MW and 20MW being developed by Fotowatio Renewable Ventures and NextEra Energy Resources, respectively, in North Las Vegas. Another contract covers output from a 51MW Ormat Technologies geothermal project near Dixie, Nevada.
NV Energy also seeks permission to enter long-term contracts to purchase renewable energy credits from Amonix projects to be developed in North Las Vegas, where the CPV manufacturer was to begin production in a new facility at the end of the first quarter.
