The new US climate law will be instrumental to ensure the solar industry can meet its goal of 50GW of domestic manufacturing capacity by 2030 but getting there will require demand certainty and strategic investments, and avoidance of “pitfalls” that could hinder growth, according to a Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) white paper.

President Joe Biden on Tuesday signed the $433bn Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 – despite the name it will do little this year to lower four decade-high inflation – into law whose “important incentives will, over time, lead to a renaissance in American solar manufacturing,” the national trade group claimed.
