The plant, the first in the US for N-type panels, can produce 50 panels per hour. The 72-cell modules are capable of generating up to 320W of power each.
Plans call for doubling production capacity to 200MW per year in 2015, which will boost the payroll to 400.
Output will go towards filling the balance of sister company OCI Solar Power’s 400MW (ac) deal with San Antonio municipal utility CPS Energy, which is aggressively adopting renewables under its New Energy Economy Initiative.
