The company has a technology for continuous silicon crystal growth, producing high volumes for use in high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon wafers. MEMC says volumes are higher than those produced through the traditional semiconductor processes, and have enhanced electrical performance for use in high-efficiency solar modules.
Solaicx has about 80 employees between its headquarters in Santa Clara, California, and a factory in Portland, Oregon.
