Masdar PV delivers first module shipment after rapid ramp-up

Masdar PV, the thin-film start-up launched by Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Development Company, has delivered its first module shipment to a solar park being built in Erfurt, Germany, after kicking off production earlier this year.

Masdar PV delivered the modules to Beton Fertigteilbau Erfurt, the future operators of the plant. In total it will deliver 10,000 thin-film modules offering a combined 1 megawatt (MW) of capacity.

System integration will be undertaken by Munich-based Deutsche Solar Werke, with the plant expected to be commissioned and connected to the grid by late 2009.

Mubadala plans to sink €150m ($221m) into Masdar PV’s factory in Ichtershausen, Germany, near Erfurt in the state of Thuringia.
