Less than two weeks before the World Future Energy Summit kicks off in Abu Dhabi, local media report that the $22bn Masdar City project will not be completed on schedule.

The carbon-neutral, waste-free city is the flagship project of Masdar, a renewables development firm owned by Mubadala, the wholly-owned investment arm of the Abu Dhabi government.

Masdar’s focus is now almost entirely on completing the city’s first phase on schedule in 2013.
