The 53-megawatt (MW) Lieberose, being erected in the German state of Brandenburg, will utilise 700,000 thin-film panels made by First Solar when it is finished and plugged into the grid by the end of the year.
In a ceremony marking the 560,000th panel installed, and attended by German infrastructure minister Wolfgang Tiefensee, Lieberose officially hopscotched past Germany’s previous reigning PV installation, the 40MW Waldpolenz.
