Construction on the facility in eastern Chicago County is now complete, with more than 440,000 solar panels using single-axis technology spanning 1,000 acres (4sq km).
It will provide power for more than 20,000 homes. Xcel Energy will purchase the electricity as part of a 25-year deal to provide solar energy to both residential customers and the Minnesota State Capitol Complex.
