The dust up stems from October 2008, when Helios signed a seven-year wafer supply contract with LDK totaling 70MW.
Under the terms of the original contract, Helios – based in the Italian region of Veneto and owned by Kerself, Italy’s largest solar-energy manufacturer – was to take the modules from 2009-2015.
However, shortly after the ink dried the PV industry began seeing massive price drops for nearly every type of component, rendering uncompetitive the terms Helios had signed onto.
