Airvoice, based near New Delhi, has formed a joint venture with state-run power group Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam to pursue its plan, according to local media. Airvoice will hold a 51% stake in the projects.
The firms intend to build 10GW of photovoltaic arrays and 3GW of wind farms across 12 “wasteland” sites in India’s southwest state of Karnataka.
Airvoice managing director Sanjay Kapoor says the project’s first phase, which will include 100MW of solar capacity and 200MW of wind – will be commissioned by 2013.
