“Due to current challenges in the solar industry, including industry pricing that is below the cost of manufacture, GE has made a decision to close its crystalline silicon manufacturing facility in Delaware and to realign the Solar organization,” GE spokesperson Milissa Rocker says in a statement.
She notes that the company is exploring other strategic alternatives to closing the plant. Some 82 people will be affected by the closure.
