GE took a majority stake in PrimeStar in 2008 and has been pouring its research and development might into the Colorado company’s solar efforts.
The new thin-film panels, to be available in 2011, will be manufactured at 30MW PrimeStar plant in Arvada, Colorado.
Last year, GE exited the solar manufacturing business, selling off its crystalline silicon module assembly plant in Newark, Delaware, to Motech Industries, Taiwan’s largest photovoltaic manufacturer.
