The Vancouver company, in partnership with GE Energy Financial Services, will buy three projects in the hot solar market of Ontario and serve as managing partner. It marks the first solar investment in Canada for the financial arm of industrial giant General Electric.

“We see significant growth potential for solar power worldwide, which continues to improve on technology costs and efficiencies, and helps balance wind-generated power, which peaks at different times,” says Mark Tonner, managing director and Canada business leader for GE Energy Financial Services.

First Solar, a major project developer and the world’s largest thin-film solar equipment manufacturer, will continue to develop the projects.
