The Arizona-based company says it is responding to “strong demand” for its products.
Specific locations have not been announced. First Solar says “negotiations and site assessments are ongoing”.
Each new factory would have four production lines and would employ about 600 people. They would also be designed to accommodate additional expansion.
The new factories, added to company plants in Malaysia, Germany, France and Ohio, will help the company reach capacity of more than 2.7GW
