Th €150m ($100m) factory will be co-financed by the two firms and operated by First Solar, and will sell its entire output of thin-film panels to EDF for its first 10 years.
Located in the region of Aquitaine, near Bordeaux, the facility will be fully operational by 2012, and will create 400 jobs.
Both firms say “forward-looking French solar policies” lead them to believe France will become a major market for solar electricity over the next few years.
