Arizona-based First Solar is targeting the fast-growing utility solar market with the buy, which will include projects the two companies have jointly developed in California and the US southwest, ranging from 20 megawatts to 150MW.
First Solar is significantly expanding its manufacturing capacity, announcing last month a forecast of 1.8 gigawatts of global capacity in 2012. It exceeded 1 gigawatt of production in 2009.
