First Solar, Apple seal $848m California PPA deal

First Solar and Apple have sealed an $848m, 25-year deal for 130MW (ac) of solar power, a transaction the companies say is the industry’s largest involving clean energy supply to a commercial end-user.

First Solar will provide the electricity from its planned 280MW California Flats PV project in Monterey County, California. The developer expects to begin construction this summer with commercial operation by the end of 2016.
