First Solar and GE in separate PV research partnerships

First Solar hopes a new partnership with semiconductor and clean energy research firm Intermolecular will lead to higher efficiencies for its cadmium-telluride (CdTe) PV equipment, while General Electric is joining with the Fraunhofer Institute to forecast the life remaining in PV plant power electronics.
