The money will be funneled into the 100MW parabolic-trough Kom Ombo project to be sited near the Aswan High Dam hydro plant in southern Egypt, with an expected price tag of $700m and a finish date in 2017.
The World Bank will provide $100m through its Clean Technology Fund and another $170m in loans. Egypt expects additional finance to come from the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism.
