If approved by regulators, it would be the largest commitment to solar energy by a public utility in Florida, whose moniker is “The Sunshine State.”
Construction of the first site – up to 5MW – will begin later this year with 35MW expected in commercial operation by the end of 2017.
These solar energy facilities will enable Duke Energy Florida to evaluate costs, and to monitor the effects of this resource on the electric grid infrastructure.
