The federally-recognized Quechan Tribe filed a lawsuit on 29 October alleging that the Department of the Interior (DOI) violated federal laws in approving the Stirling dish engine project, which would be among the largest solar plants in the world. The tribe sought a preliminary injunction, asking the court “to preserve the status quo¿ pending the outcome of this litigation”. Project developer Tessera Solar, through subsidiary Imperial Valley Solar LLC, later intervened as a defendant.
