The $90.6m loan guarantee should help secure financing at better interest rates for the Alamosa Solar Generating Project, which would be one of the largest deployments of CPV technology.
Cogentrix, based in North Carolina, has tapped Mortenson Construction as engineering, procurement and construction contractor. The project, to be built in the alpine San Luis Valley of southern Colorado, would use Amonix CPV systems, which consist of inexpensive plastic Fresnel lenses that concentrate sunlight onto multi-junction solar cells.
