The deal bucks the trend of European solar giants, such as Q-Cells and REC, shifting the lion’s share of their manufacturing to Asia in order to tap the low-cost labour force.
TSMC, the world’s largest semiconductor foundry, will supply PV cells to Centrosolar, which will then transform them into modules. The deal runs through 2016, with Centrosolar to deliver at least 100MW per year starting from third-quarter 2011.
