BrightSource scales back solar to avoid turtles, rare plants

The California developer of large-scale solar thermal power plants is scaling back its proposed Ivanpah project in the Mojave Desert from 440 megawatts (MW) to 392MW to reduce impacts on the threatened desert tortoise and an area of rare plants.
