JFE to build 26MW of PV in Japan

Japanese EPC provider JFE Engineering has started building a 26.2MW PV project on a former golf course north of Tokyo.

Hanwha Q Cells will supply roughly 105,000 modules for the plant, a JFE Engineering spokesperson tells Recharge, without disclosing the terms of the deal.

Nagano-based health-food provider Sunny Health will operate the project in Sukagawa, Fukushima prefecture, after it is completed in March 2015.

Tokyo-based JFE Engineering has become increasingly active in the Japanese solar market over the past year.

Last August, it secured an order to build roughly 21.7MW of utility-scale solar on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.

And in June, it revealed plans to help power facility specialist Kyudenko build and manage 50MW of solar installations throughout the country.
