The California start-up is working on what it calls a unique process technology for the manufacture of copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) solar cells. Derived from the hard disk drive industry, AQT says its process features “continuous in-line manufacturing” to reduce costs and increase capital utilization efficiency.
The company attracted funding from its initial backer, STPV Holdings, as well as new, undisclosed investors.
AQT positions its product as “very low-cost drop-in replacements for conventional crystalline silicon cells”.
