SolarWorld says its move taken on Tuesday aims to counter “ongoing, anticompetitive trade practices” by rivals from those countries.
The company claims that petitions it filed with the US International Trade Commission and US Department of Commerce will close a “loophole” that enables Chinese producers to evade duties averaging about 31% by assembling modules from cells manufactured in third countries including in Taiwan.
This allows China to continue to improperly subsidize exports and sell below production costs in the US market, according to SolarWorld.
