Ameresco, based in Massachusetts, did not release financial terms of the deal.
Fort Detrick will purchase the solar power from Ameresco through a 25-year agreement at or below current and projected utility rates. The project will supply 12% of Fort Detrick’s annual electric load requirements and will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 19,000 metric tons annually.
The facility, which will include installation of 60,000 solar panels within Fort Detrick, will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 19,000 metric tons annually.
