In January, SunEdison and Adani Enterprises announced the MoU to great fanfare in India, saying they would consider forming a joint venture that would spend as much as $4bn building a factory in Mundra, Gujarat.
As many as 4,500 direct jobs would be created as a result, the companies said.
SunEdison has long been bullish on the Indian renewables market. Adani Enterprises is India’s largest port owner, and its subsidiary Adani Power is the country’s largest private power generator – with big ambitions for solar energy.
