Abengoa Solar Mojave receives positive CEC staff assessments

Staff of the California Energy Commission (CEC) evaluating Abengoa’s proposed 250 megawatt solar parabolic trough plant proposed in the Mojave Desert say its impact on a range of issues from soil and water quality to public health would be “less than significant”, provided mitigation measures are followed.

On Tuesday, regulatory staff released the second part of their supplemental staff assessment of the Abengoa’s Mojave Solar project, covering potential impacts to air quality, biological resources, soils and water resources, transmission system engineering and waste management.

The project, proposed on 681 hectares of private former ranch land in Harper Dry Lake, San Bernardino County, California, is one of several utility scale concentrating solar plants proposed in the area.
