Duke, the largest US electric utility by market capitalisation, says it will invest as much as $225m into REC Solar’s projects over the next few years, as REC attempts to do for the C&I sector what SolarCity has done to the residential rooftop market.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The deal comes amid a wave of acquisitions of US rooftop solar installers by blue chip power companies.
