Kyushu Electric Power — which led four other regional utilities last autumn in temporarily denying grid access to solar and wind developers, on claims that their grid networks had reached full capacity — this week restarted the No. 1 reactor at its nuclear plant near Satsumasendai, in the southern prefecture of Kagoshima.
It expects to start generating electricity from the reactor by Friday.
