The Sydney developer has launched a study with Los Angeles-based Aecom Technology to assess the feasibility of the project, at the Kidston gold mine, southwest of Cairns, Queensland.

The array will be built on top of a mine tailings storage facility near Genex's planned 330MW pumped-storage project, which will include a new 275kV transmission line.

"Developing the Kidston solar project is a natural next step for the company as we seek to leverage our existing physical and intangible assets and recognise the potential of the Kidston site as a large-scale energy hub,” says Genex managing director Michael Addison.
