SolarWorld Ebitda up on US PV module shipments

German solar manufacturer SolarWorld during the first three quarters of 2015 has reached positive operating earnings thanks to rising shipments in the United States.

Group-wide shipments of solar PV modules and kits rose by 25% to 755MW in the January to September period compared to 602MW the same period of 2014, SolarWorld said in an ad-hoc announcement to stock markets.

The US was the largest individual market in all three quarters in the period, while shipments in Germany declined.

Consolidated revenue was up 30% to €532m ($583m) in the first three quarters of 2015 compared to the year-earlier period.

SolarWorld managed to reach earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) of €15m in the period, compared to €1.5m in the same period a year earlier.

The company didn’t provide a net profit figure.

SolarWorld expects to exceed its shipment forecast of one gigawatt and group revenue forecast of €700m for the whole year of 2015.
