In a filing with Minnesota’s electricity regulator, Xcel says that its “preferred approach” to meeting its 2020 solar mandate is to sign PPAs with three developers – juwi solar for its 25MW MN Solar I project; NextEra for its 65MW Marshall Solar project; and Community Energy Resources’ (CER) for its 100MW North Star Solar project.

All three projects – totaling 187MW – would be online by late 2016, ensuring they would qualify for the federal Investment Tax Credit, which is currently scheduled to expire in 2017.
