Trina Solar makes play for European storage market

Chinese solar giant Trina is launching a range of energy storage solutions for the residential, commercial and industrial (C&I) and utility markets.

Launched under the umbrella brand Trinabest (Battery Energy Storage by Trina), Trinahome will be sold as 3kW/6.5kWh and 5kW/9kWh units, with the higher-capacity system seen as a "perfect fit" for the European residential segment.

Larger versions, branded TrinaMega, are designed for C&I and industrial users.

Trinabest general manager Frank Qi points to Germany as "growing considerably" as a market for the Changzhou company.

"Due to the decreasing of PV subsidies and comparatively high electricity prices, energy storage products in the German market have emerged as the next growth in the smart usage of renewable energies," he adds.
