Xcel says 200MW wind contract is among lowest cost ever seen

NextEra won the contract through a wind-energy solicitation Xcel reissued “to capture the benefits of lower wind-power costs”, says David Eves, chief executive of Public Service Co. of Colorado, Xcel’s utility unit in the state. He adds that the contract with NextEra “is one of the lowest we’ve ever seen”.

The solicitation was first issued in January 2009 and re-issued last November.
