The government committed to sourcing 15% of the country’s energy from renewables by 2020 without having a clear idea of how to get there, according to Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, which is charged with ensuring public funds are not wasted.
Having put the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s (DECC) renewables strategy under the microscope, the committee concludes that the numbers simply do not stack up.
