The decision to kick off the review is based largely on the government’s aversion to large ground-mounted PV arrays, or what it refers to as the “solar farm threat”. Several such projects have already received planning permission, according to energy and climate minister Chris Huhne.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change says it will rethink all aspects of the FITs, including the level of financial support, which technologies are eligible and the regime for accrediting equipment suppliers and installers.
