South African President Jacob Zuma made the latest splash, throwing his weight behind the country’s tourism minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk, who led South Africa’s environment and tourism ministry until the department was split in May 2009.
Zuma says van Schalkwyk has gained respect for his work bridging the developing-developed country divide, while catapulting South Africa into a position of global leadership on the climate issue.
