Solar attracted nearly twice as much investment as wind last year, with $147bn pouring into the sector – a 52% increase on 2010’s total, according to the latest annual Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment report from the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
The study claims a total of $257bn was invested in renewables last year, 17% up on 2010. The rate of growth fell, however, from the 37% increase recorded in 2009/10.
