Vattenfall grabbed a number of headlines in the European renewables sector in 2010. Yet even as its stable of green-energy assets grew, it was not enough to steal any ground from fossil fuels or nuclear energy in its overall generation mix.

Total electricity generation rose 8.6% to 172.5TWh, with increases notched up across all segments. Fossil fuels’ contribution in the mix rose to 52%, compared to 51% the year prior.
