"We are hearing very clearly from our members that the wind turbine situation is coming to a head – seriously dividing rural communities and even jeopardizing farm succession planning,” OFA President Mark Wales says.
“The onus is on our provincial government to ensure the interests of rural Ontarians are protected.”
Developers had installed nearly 2GW of wind power in the province at the end of December, culminating a five-year spasm of growth driven by the provincial FIT, and its predecessor, the Renewable Energy Standard Offer Programme, which pay attractive rates for zero-emissions energy.
