The fiscal year 2012 budget proposal he released today makes $1.1trn in cuts across the federal government over the next decade as Obama tries to tackle the ballooning federal deficit. But the discretionary budget at DOE would see a 12% increase from 2010 levels to $29.5bn in the coming budget cycle.
